Research Opportunities with CHS
The Center for Hellenic Studies offers four postdoctoral fellowship programs for the 2025-26 academic year:

Early Career Fellowships in Hellenic Studies in Greece and Cyprus
CHS-Institute of Historical Research Joint Fellowship in Hellenic Studies
Fellowships in Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC
Summer Fellowships in Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC
These fellowships are designed to foster high-quality research on topics related to ancient Greek civilization. While each fellowship has specific requirements and awards, they all share the goal of supporting scholarly excellence.

In addition to these opportunities, CHS Greece offers the Visiting Researchers in Nafplio program. This program includes two week-long visits to Nafplio, where early-career researchers from diverse fields take advantage of CHS/Harvard’s unique digital library, present their work to peer researchers, and engage in interdisciplinary discussions. CHS Greece Workshop Series: Applications Open
We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the second workshop in this year’s series, “Cracking the Code: Interpreting Life and Death.” The workshop will be led by two former CHS Fellows, Helene Simoni (University of Patras) and Olga-Gioulika Christakopoulou (Ephorate of Antiquities of Achaia).

Following the success of the workshop on “Realism in Cinema,” coordinated by Professor Pavlos Kontos of the University of Patras this past June, participants built upon the ideas explored and dived deeper into the compelling topics, creating a collective essay of reviews on the film The Return by Andrey Zvyagintsev, which is now available on our website in Greek.

We’re excited to share highlights from the enriching experiences of some of our Harvard students this past summer at CHS Greece. Megan Degenhardt reflects on her impactful internship at the Museum of Cycladic Art, while Jordyn Duby and James Rozolis-Hill offer their perspectives on the Sport and Education Program in an insightful piece for the Harvard Gazette.

This year marked the 21st successful iteration of the Harvard Summer School Program in Greece, providing an immersive educational journey that bridges the ancient and modern worlds. Discover more about the 2024 cohort and watch our featured video.
