Philippos Papayannopoulos is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina, specializing in logic, the philosophy of mathematics, and the philosophy of science. He primarily focuses on the concepts of “computation” and “algorithm,” examining how these notions are conceptualized, defined, and applied across various fields which have them at their core. These fields include logic, computer science, mathematics (particularly numerical analysis and Euclidean geometry), scientific practices (including computational modeling, both digital and analog), and computational neuroscience (e.g., computational explanations of cognitive tasks).
Philippos completed his PhD in 2018 at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and then carried out postdoctoral research at the Sidney M. Edelstein Center for the History and Philosophy of Science, Technology and Medicine,
(Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 2019-2021) and at the Institut d’histoire et de philosophie des sciences et des techniques (IHPST; Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and CNRS, 2021-2023).
